THE CONCEPT

The demands of sport require a lot of time and energy on young student-athletes.  The WGSS ELITEadp is a program designed to provide student-athletes with a sport-specific training and learning environment during the regular school day; thus giving them more time for their own studies and rest.

ELITEadp is strategically created for the student who wants to develop his/her full potential as a high performance athlete.  Students will use this course to enhance their physical literacy in training and improve their on-field performance in their sport.  Students registered in this course will receive Individual Fitness Plans (IFPs) that will guide them through this 10-month program.  Students will also receive self-directed study time to maintain their academic studies during their competitive phase of their sport.

ELITEadp monitors student progress by upholding high standards academically and athletically.  Students will complete academic requirements and sport-specific training during the regular classroom schedule.

           WEEKLY TIMETABLE

Pre-Season & Post-Season Schedule

Student-athletes will follow their Individual Fitness Plans (IPFs) established at the beginning of the year to meet the criteria in this course during this phase.

During the pre-season and post season, students will follow their daily schedule.  Training one to two times a week in the gym with one day training in Speed, Agility, & Quickness (SAQ).

In lieu of the SAQ training, students will receive an Independent Study Block.  This block will be used for students to meet work on assignments and or meet with teachers where need be.  Grade 10 students will be assigned a teacher during this block or meet with the Program Director in the weight room.

Competitive-Season Schedule

Student-athletes will follow their Individual Fitness Plans (IPFs) established at the beginning of the year to meet the criteria in this course during this phase.

During the competitive phase, students will follow their daily schedule with the main emphasis being to maintain their atheticism.  Because of the demands on the schedule from their sport, student-athletes training will be marginally cut down to allow for more study time (Fridays). We can accommodate students needing flexibility.

In lieu of the SAQ training, students will receive an extra Independent Study Block.  This block will be used for students to meet work on assignments and or meet with teachers where need be.  Grade 10 students will be assigned a teacher during this block or meet with the Program Director in the weight room.
