ABOUT ELITEadp

The ELITE: Athletic Development Program (ELITEadp) is a choice high performance training program at WGSS designed for student-athletes to support and enhance their overall academic and training environment. Open to students in grade 10-12 enrolled at Walnut Grove Secondary School, the program will alleviate pressures student-athletes experience by assisting them in balancing their educational and training demands. ELITEadp will combine sport-specific training with physical literacy thus improving student-athletes performance in practice and in competition.

Academic Credit

Students selected to participate in the ELITEadp are eligible to receive PE credit at their grade level for successful completion of the class. 

 

Students participating during their respective sport will get credit for their commitment to games and trainings during this competitive phase.

 

PE Course Options:

Grade 10 students can only register into one Physical Education course.

 

Students in grade 11 & 12 can register in ELITEadp along with one other senior Physical Education course:

 

  • EDGE Academy 

  • Aerobic Conditioning 11/12

  • Physical Education 11/12

  • Fitness & Conditioning 11/12

The philosophy of ELITEadp is to recognize the intrinsic value of developing the student-athlete.  ELITEadp fosters a program maximizing student participation and upholding a high level of quality in the classroom which will carry onto their ahtletic teams as well.  ELITEadp strives to instill positive character traits such as Responsibility, Integrity, and Self-Discipline within a framework of Sportsmanship and commitment to Teamwork.

 

The opportunity to create a self-directed, sport-specific program is a vital part of each student's athletic development. ELITEadp is designed to provide wholesome opportunities and experiences that will enable our students to develop physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. Participation in the Program teaches our student-athletes the importance of commitment and the satisfaction that comes from hard work.
